Chuck was born on Feb. 25, 1948 to Charles D. and Betty K. (Ashby) Wood in Gary, Indiana. He has a younger brother, Robert who lives in Salem, KY. and a younger sister, Nancy Burris who lives in Plainfield, IN.
He graduated from Hobart High School in 1966, went to work at U. S. Steel, Gary Works as an Electrical apprentice and graduated the apprenticeship in 1972. On October 1, 1967 he married Paula S. Clements at St. Paul Church of the Nazarene, Hobart, Indiana. They have two children, Jeffery and Julie and blessed with two grandchildren, Savannah and Mya Rose. In 1984 Chuck went to work for Allison Gas Turbine in Indianapolis which was later sold to Rolls-Royce from which he retired in March 2013.
He was Raised a Master Mason in Martinsville Lodge #74 in 1992, served as Worshipful Master in 1995 and 2013 as well as Secretary from 1996 thru 2000 and is a past president of the Morgan Co. Past Masters Assn. He joined the Bloomington York Rite bodies in 1995 and served as High Priest in 1998 thru 2000, Ill. Master 1997 thru 2000 and Eminent Commander in 2000. He also served as Eminent Commander in Wm. G. Bray #65 in 2009 – 2010. He is presently a member of H F Eggers Chapter #71, located in Martinsville and served as High Priest in 2001, and presently serves as Treasurer, Hamilton Council #114 located in Martinsville and presently serves as Treasurer. He started his Grand Council service as a Group Officer of Group 8 in 1998; he was Ill. Master of the Year in 1999 and was elected as Grand Steward in 2001. He served as Most Illustrious Grand Master in 2005 – 06.
He is a member of the Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Valley where he served as Sovereign Prince in the Saraiah Council line in 2009 – 10; Marvin L. Isley College #129 and serves as Director of Work; a member of the Robert A. Woods Priory #62, KYCH and received the KYGCH in 2006; Knight Masons, Indiana Council #15; Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, St. Andrews Tabernacle No. XXXV; Red Cross of Constantine, St. James Conclave; Rosicrucians; and is a Past Sov. Master of St. Martin of Tours AMD Council #411. He is also a member of Sahara Grotto.
He has received the Order of High Priesthood in Indiana; a Thrice Illustrious Master of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan. Appointed Grand Representative to Victoria, Australia for the Grand Chapter RAM of Indiana and Grand Representative to Colorado for the Grand Council Cryptic Masons of Indiana. He is a member of the Past Commanders Assn.; Goose & Tater; Royal Order of Zanzibar, where he is the Grand Brew Master and Order of the Quest. He also holds Honorary Memberships in Eminence Lodge #440 and Ellettsville Lodge #245.
He received the Order of the Purple Cross in 2008 and in 2011 received the 33rd degree. He was appointed as Regional Deputy General Grand Master for the East Central Region, General Grand Council Cryptic Masons, International by George Sellars, Right Puissant General Grand Master. He now serves the Grand Council of Indiana as Right Illustrious Grand Recorder.
